About the Course:

This training is designed to provide attendees with increased competency regarding ethical practice and decision making. Common ethical dilemmas such as mandated reporting obligations, boundaries, conflicts of interests, and clinical documentation will be addressed along with the emerging ethical considerations presented by increased utilization of telehealth services and social media. Participants will have the opportunity to review and apply relevant codes of ethics, rules, laws, and ethical decision-making models. Focus will be on Arizona state regulations, federal statutes, and behavioral health codes of ethics. Objectives •Participants will be able to identify and become familiar with sources of behavioral health ethical obligations (codes of ethics, Arizona state regulations, Arizona and Federal statutes,etc). •Participants will understand and practice utilizing ethical decision-making models. •Participants will gain knowledge regarding ethical considerations related to common ethical dilemmas including mandated reporting, technology, and dual relationships. •Participants will improve clinical documentation skills as it relates to ethical best practices.

Patricia’s education and professional background spans the fields of law, behavioral health, and academia. She worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Illinois and has practiced as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in various settings. Patricia has held Clinical Supervisor, Director, and Vice President positions providing support and leadership to behavioral health teams. Patricia is passionate about supporting others and upholding the integrity of the behavioral health field. She has served as a member of the Arizona Network for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, she has served on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Professional Member and as Chairperson. Patricia owns the Clinical Best Practice Institute dedicated to supporting therapists, supervisors, and businesses through trainings, supervision, and consultation.
